The majority of 2020 has been focused on trying to find the most effective ways in ending the spread of Covid-19. In the United States, the number of cases is far higher than in any other country. As many people begin returning to work, it is important to find ways to keep the workplace sanitary in order to prevent the virus from being an issue, especially when it comes to the essential workers in warehouses across the country.
Masks
Wearing protective masks has become increasingly prevalent, and it is required by almost all employees, no matter what company they are employed with. Warehouse employees should wear masks because the items that they touch and come into close contact with could be stored for an indefinite amount of time. Since many people who are infected with the coronavirus do not show symptoms, it can be hard to tell who actually has it. When employees breathe out, talk, sneeze, or cough, the chances that they spread the virus to coworkers or infect the products with Covid-19 is much less likely if they wear a mask. If the mask is disposable, it should be worn only once. Cloth masks must be washed after each shift to be most effective.
Wiping Down
For warehouse storage, each item should be thoroughly wiped down with sanitary wipes each time an employee moves it or even touches it. This is extremely important to remember, considering the amount of hands that can come into contact with warehouse products.
Washing Hands More Often
This factor should be obvious, but it is imperative that employees wash their hands thoroughly (for at least 20 seconds) each time they touch another worker, use the bathroom, or return to work after a break.
Raising the Humidity and Temperature
Depending on what type of warehouse you own, raising the temperature and humidity around the stored items can be beneficial for the cleanliness of your warehouse. Coronaviruses generally have a slimmer chance of surviving in hotter environments with higher humidity, although it is currently unknown how Covid-19 will respond to rising temperatures. If your products will not be destroyed with heat, it could be worth controlling the atmosphere of the warehouse by raising the temperature and humidity.
During this unprecedented time, as we continue to battle the spread of Covid-19, maintaining a sanitary warehouse is the most important aspect to consider. These ideas must constantly be enforced in order to keep everyone healthy and clean.
