With people now getting the COVID-19 vaccination, it would be easy to think that you can start to be more lax with the safety regulations. However, this is simply not the case and it is still extremely important to continue social distancing and masking up to protect yourself and those around you. Keep the safety tips below in mind and always remember to be diligent about following them:
Wear A Mask:
Whether you are sporting a cute cloth mask, a blue surgical one, or an N95 mask, wearing one in public is a sign that not only do you respect yourself but those around you, as well. Wearing a mask is the best and most simple thing that you can do to help curb the spread of COVID-19 and this one small act shows that you care. If you are constantly forgetting your mask, keep a stash handy in the glove compartment of your car or your purse and you will never be without.
Do A Mental Health Check:
The COVID-19 pandemic has been doing everyone’s mental health no favors and, sadly, not even children are exempt from the loneliness that has come with the territory of the past year. It has also made life increasingly difficult for the people that had issues with depression and anxiety pre-pandemic. Your safety during the pandemic also includes your mental health and it is equally as important to make sure you are feeling okay emotionally. Journaling is a great tool to use to sort your feelings out and talking is too! If you are struggling, scheduling a virtual appointment with a therapist could be just what you need to help give you some clarity and get you back to baseline.
Staying In:
The most surefire way to keep yourself safe during this pandemic, of course, is just staying in. I don’t know about you, but I can definitely swing sitting on the couch with a good book if that means better protecting myself and loved ones. There are so many tools out there now to help us avoid unnecessary contact. From contactless delivery for take out to TeleHealth visits with your doctor, Zoom calls, and utilizing the option at certain grocery stores to place an order online and have it delivered or shopped for by an employee – staying in has never been easier.
Although being cooped up inside comes with its own set of difficulties, we can all look forward to spring weather and being able to see our friends social distance style outside! The cabin fever will start to decrease as soon as you feel the sunshine on your face.
Keep Yourself Educated:
By now, everyone should know that COVID-19 is far from a hoax and is a very real threat. It can be downright overwhelming at times and, therefore, it is understandable to not even want to hear about it. However, knowledge is power and it is a good thing to educate yourself about this virus. One of the scary things about the coronavirus is that it is constantly changing as it manifests in new symptoms or different variants are discovered. Like I said, it’s understandable to want to shut it all out. But, keeping on top of the ball of COVID updates from reliable news sources, such as Forbes, will keep you informed on how to better protect yourself as well as help you stay diligent in following the safety regulations.
Unfortunately, the pandemic is not going anywhere any time soon and we all must continue to do our part to ensure the safety of ourselves, loved ones, and strangers. Follow the tips above and, please, be careful, social distance, and wear a mask.
