Moving your business into an office is an exciting step towards your successful journey as an entrepreneur. You should be proud of yourself and the accomplishments that you have mastered in order to make it to this step. To make your transition into your new office space as smooth as possible, there are certain services that you will need to obtain. We have composed a list of suggestions that will help you start your journey.
Cable/internet/phone
A cable or satellite company will need to come in and set up services. You want to make the transition or set-up of services as seamless as possible in order to keep the windows of communication open with your customer or client base at all times.
Establish how many cable set-ups or phone jacks that you will need for the landline. In which case, it would be helpful to already have your office furniture, desks, and equipment set-up so that the placement of services would be easy to establish
Protection through insurance & warranties
Keep in mind that you are setting up an office space that is most likely away from your home and will only be occupied during certain times. One thing about a business is that everyone will have knowledge as to what your operating hours are. Acquiring insurance for your building and all of its assets should be one of the first things on your to do list.
A few examples of different insurance options that need to be considered are as follows:
- Auto insurance for all company vehicles
- Workers’ compensation
- Professional liability
- Product liability
Also, there will most likely be office equipment being utilized. Keep all receipts and warranties in a designated place. If any equipment were to malfunction, or furniture breaks down, you do not want to come out of pocket for repairs if you don’t have to. Besides, it is inconvenient and time consuming having to find alternative ways to work around a defective item.
Cleaning
Cleanliness plays an important factor when it comes to the success of a business. You want to leave your customers or clients with a positive first impression. Also, a clean environment helps the business run more smoothly in general. An office that isn’t properly cleaned can lead to many discomforts and inconveniences such as allergies, infestation of bugs or rodents, disorganization, and just an overall turn-off to potential customers.
Research the cleaning services within your area. For example, cleaning services in NYC, and ensure that they offer all-inclusive cleaning services such as general everyday cleaning, move in cleaning, and even floor services and polishing. Find ways to minimize steps without cutting corners, and having a cleaning service provider that can handle all levels of cleaning will be of extreme help to a business.
Professional movers & assemblers
I know that the idea of moving in and assembling equipment yourself seems like a great money saver, but if you or the person that is helping you move, were to break something or assemble something incorrectly, the expense falls back on you.
Hiring professional movers and assemblers is the best option for a few reasons. They have the right equipment such as various sized hand-trucks, wrapping materials, etc. Not to mention, that if something breaks in their care, they are the ones who will most likely have to take responsibility for repairs or replacement.
Oftentimes when we are excited about checking the big tasks off our to-do list, we sometimes forget about the smaller steps. I recommend comprising a to-do list on a spreadsheet to ensure that you do not forget anything during the process. Now that you have all of the tools make a seamless transition into your new office space, you are unstoppable.
