Increasingly, customers are becoming frustrated with buying technology products that only last a certain amount of time. In some cases, this is a case of manufactured obsolescence, in which a company has purposefully tried to create a product which only lasts a certain amount of time. Customers are becoming clued on to this, and it is not something that they appreciate, and should be avoided at all costs. But much more of the time, products simply don’t have the shelf life that people want them to have. The question then is what can you do to ensure that your technology products are really going to last as long as possible. As it happens, there are plenty of things that you can do, and in this article we are going to take a look at just a few of the most important.
Trustworthy Parts
One of the first things you need to think about is ensuring that you are using trustworthy parts for the creation of your product. What your product is actually made up of is obviously always going to be important, so this is something that you will need to think about from the very start. Every tiny item within a piece of technology, whether it’s the battery casing or the resistors or ABS molding, needs to be of the absolute highest quality if it is to be something that works well for the product, and ensures that the product will last well. So make sure that you don’t skimp and save on these things if you want to keep your technology products working properly.
Simple Design
The moment you try to complicate things, you automatically end up with a product which is going to be much less likely to survive for all that long. That is just the nature of designing anything, and you need to make sure that you are avoiding this as best as you can. By keeping the design simple, you will ensure that all of the working parts within the product remain working, which is the main thing that you are looking for here. Simplicity is of course challenging to make true, so it’s something that you are going to need to work on a little in order to make it a reality.

Care
Your customer has a certain duty to care for the product – but in order for them to be able to do that, you need to inform them about the best way to care for the product. That is something that you can easily inform them of, and usually the way to do it is to provide a leaflet with the product explaining what they need to do. However, because most people will not look at a leaflet in much detail, it might be helpful to think about what you can do to make it a little more exciting or stand-out. Whether that’s by making it colourful or funny, or whatever else you might want to do, you can be sure that it is going to work.
