Having someone available to help a customer whenever needed makes a customer feel like a business has gone above and beyond to serve them. One who cannot find assistance tends to feel like this has a negative impact on the experience due to it being more difficult for them. If you have an employee on the floor who offers customers assistance, you can greatly better their experience with your business. If there’s no one to help, this isn’t a waste of an employee. Well-stocked shelves look much more professional. An empty establishment can look dingy and make it appear as if your business is failing even if it isn’t. Do what you can to keep shelves decently full. This may mean that you have a larger stock of some products displayed while you wait for shipments to come in for products that may have sold out. A little spare shelf space never hurt anyone, but an empty place isn’t ideal.

Make sure you have fast point of sale systems that don’t lag, train your employees well on how to use them, and try to avoid understaffing. This will keep things moving which will keep customers happy.

Most establishments don’t teach proper bagging and it can be a pet peeve among customers. Take a little bit of extra time to train your cashiers the proper way to bag items so like products stay together. This makes it much easier for the customer later so this can cause people to favor your establishment to those who don’t teach these ideals.
